The Rochester Sports Museum joins our community in mourning the passing of our dear friend, sports museum founding member, lions club member and local sporting legend, Bob Knight OAM.
Bob was far more than an outstanding sportsman. He was the heart of so many clubs, a tireless volunteer, mentor and leader who dedicated his life to Rochester sport and community. Whether as a player, coach, secretary, president, committee member, sports writer or Lions Club member, Bob gave selflessly for decades. His remarkable service earned him the Order of Australia Medal, but his greatest legacy is the countless lives he touched and the stronger community he helped build.
Earlier this year, it was our privilege to honour Bob and his remarkable family through our Knight Family Local Showcase. It now stands as a lasting tribute to a man whose commitment, humility and community spirit will continue to inspire future generations.
To his wife Margaret, and the entire Knight family, we extend our heartfelt condolences and sincere thanks for sharing Bob with Rochester for so many years.
Rest peacefully, Bob. Your contribution to Rochester can never be measured, and you will never be forgotten.
